I really do enjoy this biz ... I get to work with some of the most interesting people I have had the pleasure to meet. And I also get to learn a lot ... more often from folks who have been around for a while.
But what never ceases to amaze me ... and for some reason or another I seem to run into them ... is those modeling wet behind the ears newbies who think that they somehow already know it all. Not all first time models are like that, just enough to make life interesting.
Case in point: a model who I had worked with this past summer has changed her modeling name. It happens; models take on a new personna. It's just something about the biz. But by changing her professional name it seems that somehow she thinks she can reclaim her bondage virginity. As I am sure most folks would understand, once a cherry is busted ..... hehehehe, remember the old
joke about visitng the Virgin Islands?? And then, in all of her weeks of extensive experience and wisdom, she comments about photos that are, let's see, 6 months old, thinking that they are in some manner coming from an archives.
New flash! We, like most businesses, have an inventory of content. It's just the way that it works; even Hollywood can have movies in the can for months or years before it is released. Not to burst anyone's bubble, but I know of a few folks who are posting, for the first time, photos and vids that are 2 or 3 years old. It doesn't
make them archives material, as our little newbie suggests. It is simply a business fact of life; otherwise we would be going crazy trying to put together the content each and every week.
But we still have to remember to show those newbies the love as they mature in the biz; hopefully they will. It's all part of the growing process, both models and photographers. Yes, we were all young once.
But enough of that ... and back to the good stuff
